A little while ago we mentioned that we were going to be hosting Sue Spargo here at Crow Central and we had a wonderful response to that news! 

We now have more details, including the dates, projects on offer and the cost for the two day workshop and are taking firm bookings with deposits.

Her workshop will consist of two days and these are the two projects that Sue will be teaching.  You can choose which one you would like to do on the day!

Or these beautiful leaves . . .we saw both of these projects when we were in Houston last year and they are stunning.  The embellishments are just wonderful.

Both of these projects will be made available as kits which will also include the embellishments and  other needful things at an additional cost to the two day workshop.

The dates for the workshop are Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd September and the cost for the two day workshop, including morning/afternoon tea and lunch, is $290 and a 50% deposit is required to secure your spot and the balance to be paid by 17th August.

Gathering in the Barn 2012

Our first Gathering in the Barn - and it most definately won't be our last - seemed to over in the blink of an eye. 

As always, setting up for the day is always loads of fun . . . first for the Friday ladies and then again for the Saturday ladies . . .
Inside their gift bags were four patterns - four new designs especially for the ladies who came along.  Of course all of the designs had just a little wool applique on them . . . you know how much we LOVE working with wool!

As well as these four new patterns, each lady received a small gift from us to say "thank you" . . .

And inside were all the 'ingredients' to make this pincushion, one of the patterns from our new "Wooly Bits" Club that will be commencing first week in May . . .

There was a little eye candy . . . .

And just a little bit more . . . some new fabrics that had just arrived at Crow Central . . . these are currently being added to the website ( but I need a little more wine to complete that task . . .)

Remember the red & white exhibition held last year in the U.S. - well these Mary Koval fabrics are just what you need to complete your very own red & white quilt . . .

Some yummy food - catered for by Linda, Bev  & Co . . .sorry, no photos of the food on my camera - we were a wee bit busy when that came out, but believe us, it tasted REAL good!  Our trust helpers, Robyn & Sharon (hurry home and hurry back) who looked after Crow Central in the Barn for us . .  well, hello! Thanks guys!

After lunch we held a Trunk Show with all the projects from our book that is only weeks away now from being released - did we tell you how excited we are about that!!  The countdown will be starting real soon!

We have read many comments and can't thank you enough for your kind words about the day - we had the BEST time and can't wait to do it all again.

Pop on over to Linda's blog - she has an announcement to make about "Quilts in the Barn" which is to be held later in the year as well as some links to other blogs who have shared some more photos from the weekend.

Part of the attendance fee that the ladies paid to attend the day was put aside for Breast Cancer Research and we are pleased to announce that an amount of $1,500 was raised for this very worthwhile cause.  Thank you everyone!

A Gathering in the Barn . . . just wonderful!

Yesterday was Day One of our Gathering in the Barn held on the beautiful property of Linda Collins in Wonga Park.
The ladies had such a wonderful day and thoroughly enjoyed working with wool.  Some hadn't tried it before but I think they are now hooked!

We won't show you any more photos just yet as we don't want to spoil the surprises waiting for the next group of ladies coming today . . .  but rest assured, there will be lots of them!

Daley Demo Day . . .

We had a fantastic response to our Daley Demo Day a couple of weeks ago here at Crow Central but there were many of you who couldn't make it as you live a long, long, long way away (as in half way 'round the world)!

So, thanks to the generosity of Sue Daley herself, we have provided a tutorial given to us by Sue that was shown on the day, just for you ladies!

This first one is on how to do "Clamshells"

A fantastic day . . .

It's all over just too quickly!

Today we had the most wonderful day with all the ladies who came along to our Autumn Gathering.  We had ladies travel from interstate to join us (thanks Vicki, Vickie & Sue), ladies from right up the top of our state drive down & of course our guest designers who came over from the mainland too.

We had fun decorating the tables . . lots of paper birds

The ladies worked very hard on their projects . . and enjoyed the retail therapy . . .

And then before we knew it, the day was over . . .

All set to go . . .

Our Autumn Gathering will be held tomorrow here at Crow Central and we have a full house - not a seat left!

We spent last night moving a few things (ok, A LOT of things!!) around in readiness for the tables & chairs delivery today and then it will be time to decorate the tables!  So much fun!

Our guest designers, Natalie Lymer of Cinderberry Stitches and Kerry Gillespie of My Favourite Things will fly in around lunchtime so the kettle will be on . . . or the wine opened . . . one or the other!

Here are the projects that the ladies will each receive patterns for in their gift bags . .

From Kerrie Gillespie . . three beautiful pillow cases called "Spring Collection" each with a different stitched design worked in Cottage Garden Threads. . .

And who wouldn't want these two little birdies - I know I do!  They are called "Birdena" - a pincushion and scissor keep . .

Then from Natalie Lymer, a handy bag to take along to your sewing group with a stitchery done in her unique style, using her own range of fabrics of course which we have in store, complete with needlecase - the design is called "Paper Dolls".

 

From Deirdre, "Letters to Home" a stationery set to hold your notepads, pens and other writing bits n pieces, along with a covered notebook to match.

 

Then from me, the other crow, three framed appliques called "Lucinda's Flowers" . . .

 

So all in all, I think the ladies will be happy with the projects that have been designed for them, and of course the other little surprises that are planned for throughout the day.  Here's hoping they enjoy their day at Crow Central tomorrow!

Nearly finished . . .

Just finishing up my final project for our "Gathering in the Barn" which is only a couple of weeks away now.  These are some of the flowers used in the four borders . . .

My other project is complete and both of Deirdre's are done (Clever Crow she is!).  No, she's not that clever actually, I just remembered she still has to quilt one of them . . . ha!

Here's a peek of one of Deirdre's that IS complete . . . It is called "Cambridge" . . .

That's enough peeks for today - it's back to the grind stone!

Daley Demo Day . . .

We've had fun today setting up for our free "Daley Demo Day" which will be held at Crow Central on Friday and Saturday.

An overwhelming response to say the least . . . we have a few little tempters awaiting them . . .

Not to mention some 'must have' paper piecing products . . .

All of the ladies who have booked will each receive a complimentary pincushion pattern complete with papers.  They'll even get to choose their own fabric to use from two large drawers full of some great leftovers that have been thrown open on the table! 

Check out these two quilts of Sue Daley's . . . I'm busting to get started on these just for me!  The one hanging over the trolley belongs to one of our customers who frequents Crow Central . . .
Some yummy morning tea will also await them . . .which reminds me, it should be ready to come out of the oven just about . . . . now!

To our free "Daley Demo Day" this Friday and Saturday 24th & 25th February between 10am and 12 noon here at Crow Central.
Having just recently returned from our shop owners retreat where we became "specialists" in english paper piecing using Sue Daley's technique, we thought it would be nice to share this information with you in the shop, so . . .come along between 10am and 12 noon on either Friday 24th or Saturday 25th February and see how easy and addictive paper piecing can be!

You will be given a complimentary pincushion pattern including papers and fabric to make your very own there on the day . . . nothing like hands on!

A complimentary morning tea will also be provided.

This range has just arrived along with Jo Mortons "Bridgeport", "Crimson Bouquet" and "Delectable Mountains".  They're all there on the website to tempt you, so go take a look!   We'll be making up bundles of each range on Monday if you'd like the full range - or if you prefer, just pick & choose - but that's just like having to choose one kitten from a whole litter !!
